To escape a brief, but torrential downpour you take cover beneath a big spruce tree watching the rain roll off the branches as you identify wildflowers beneath to pass the time. Eventually you notice the rain tapering off and blue sky is starting to peak out between the clouds. The lake seems richer in color and there’s a crispness to smell of the surrounding forest as you leave the shelter of the tree and walk to the lakeshore.
